Progresif Bags 500 Kg For International Coastal Clean Up Day

Braving the scorching hot sun over Pantai Tanjung Batu, Muara, over 120 Progresif staff members spent the afternoon picking up a total of 507 kilograms of trash, in conjunction with International Coastal Clean Up Day.

Last week, Progresif staff descended upon Tanjung Batu Beach in Muara in support of one of their four Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments, ‘Progress for the Environment’. Over the course of three hours spent picking up debris ranging from plastic waste to discarded baby diapers, the Progresif staff managed to collect 137 bags of trash, equating to 507 kilograms. Commenting on their efforts, Martinah binti Hj Tamit, the Acting Director of the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation remarked that it was “a commendable initiative by Progresif to foster sense of shared responsibility towards a clean and safe environment for all. Setting an exemplary effort where small recurrent actions can make a big difference if we all do it together”.

In an impromptu speech to ‘rally the troops’ before heading out across the beach, Progresif CEO, Hajah Nurul Haniah bte Haji Jaafar reaffirmed to all the staff the reasons they were there, saying that “as a company Progresif has always been committed to pursuing progress for the environment, and what better way to walk the talk than to clean up our beautiful coastline in solidarity with other likeminded individuals who are doing the same thing across the world”.

Alongside their strategic CSR pillars of Education, Arts and Culture, and Entrepreneurship, supporting environmental initiatives has been something Progresif has pursued passionately since they were established in 2015. Operating under the belief that industry and commerce should always work in harmony with the natural world, the brand has taken every opportunity to put their words into action.

In their most recent environmental campaign, Progresif started a pledge to make #ProgressAgainstPlastic and challenged popular social influencers such as RanoAdidas, Thanis Lim, Najib Jaafri and others to live a plastic free life for 30 days. The campaign was part of a larger pledge Progresif committed to in December 2019, the Progresif 1% Pledge, which entailed the brand making a public promise to give back one percent to the community through support of their support of CSR initiatives.

“Our one percent pledge stems from our belief that if we all played a small part, there is no limit to the good that can be achieved. Consequently, through the many hours we Progresifs spend doing outreach work in the community, volunteering our time, resources, skills and care, we hope and believe that we are creating lasting positive change,” added the Progresif CEO.
