Dynamik & Progresif Donate Laptops to Students in Youth Development Centre

Dynamik Technologies and Progresif held a virtual donation handover yesterday morning for their donation drive campaign called “Goals for Education”. A total of 20 laptops were presented to the Youth Development Centre (Pusat Pembangunan Belia) for students in need of devices to facilitate online learning as the Centre carried out classes virtually since early August in light of the second wave of the COVID-19 outbreak.

In attendance during the virtual handover ceremony were senior officials from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the management of Youth Development Centre (Pusat Pembangunan Belia), Dynamik Technologies and Progresif:

This virtual event is the second virtual handover ceremony organised by Dynamik Technologies and Progresif. The first handover was held in last September in which a total of 78 tablets were donated to the Ministry of Education.

The Goals for Education donation drive is a collaboration between Dynamik Technologies and Progresif which was officially launched last year after schools were affected by the closures due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The campaign is part of the companies’ whole of nation approach which aims to support online learning initiatives and students in need of ICT devices nationwide.

The campaign first kicked off with the 555 challenge and 1Co Challenge which encouraged members of the public and companies to raise awareness and donate to the campaign via BIBD Online or Progresif Pay. The campaign has had the generous sponsorship of 14 organizations since July 2020.

In the welcoming remarks by Haslina Taib, Chief Executive Officer of Dynamik Technologies, she stated, “Alhamdulillah to date we have been able to raise $48,067.71 in total and we are grateful that we now have this opportunity to utilize a part of the funds to purchase another 20 laptops donated to Pusat Pembangunan Belia for the students to carry out their ICT lessons from home and needed the access to do so.”

She added further, “We hope that with this collaborative donation, it will help transform the lives of the students. As we begin to transition living with COVID-19, students will still have continued access to the world digitally.”

On her part, Chief Executive Officer of Progresif Hajah Nurul Haniah said that the recent outbreak serves as a reminder for to how crucial education is in societies, communities and in individual lives, and hope with the distribution of these laptops, and are able to help facilitate the learnings.

“The COVID-19 health crisis has created exceptional circumstances that are affecting lives and causing economic, social, and educational disruptions. But today shows that we can overcome these challenges through continued cooperation and collaborative efforts not only between ministries, but with other individuals, business community and the society” she added.

Goals for Education is one way to help build an empowered nation because equal access to education is key to building a thriving community, said the companies in a statement “Goals for Education will continue to actively raise funds for more ICT devices. With the second wave of COVID-19 in Brunei Darussalam, there are still more students in need who require access to ICT devices” they added.

Dynamik and Progresif encourage everyone to support ‘Goals For Education’  to enable the outreach of education for students nationwide, contributions are still accepted until end of December. Any contributions will go a long way to ensuring the nation’s youth are supported and are getting the education they deserve.
